No problem using single sticks. need the extra sticking power of extra shellac to hold stones on toothpicks.  Bulk wax does not stick. pops off just touching it or by itself.  Added a teaspoon of shellac from paint store. bubbles up in dop buddy. after mixing, seems to hold better, but shellac too expensive.  going back to single sticks.

Works fine in my application. I use nails to hold my cabs.
5 or 10% might fall off which is normal to me
