Jewelry Making Tips

Have you ever noticed that many beaders run their thread through a yellow or white block, or a small waxy container?

That’s beeswax, also known as thread conditioner, and it's a go-to tool for many jewelry makers! Applying wax to your thread can help prevent tangling, keep your beads in place, and make your overall beading experience smoother.

This is especially helpful when working with finer threads for small beads like #15 or #20 seed beads. Waxing your thread strengthens it, reduces fraying, and minimizes knotting or breakage.

How to Wax Your Thread:

1.) Purchase a beeswax or thread conditioner (natural or synthetic).

2.) Cut your thread to your desired length.

3.) Run the thread through the wax block once or twice.

4.) Warm the waxed thread by running it through your fingers (This helps it absorb more evenly.)

5.) Begin your beadwork or stringing as usual!
